RedLine

Know Exactly What Changed Between Model Versions

Sub-millimeter precision (0.001 ft). Supports Revit 2024, 2025, and 2026.

RedLine compares your host document against a linked baseline and identifies new, deleted, and modified elements across 20+ AEC categories — with color overrides or shared parameter output.

Key Capabilities

🔄

ElementId-Based Comparison

Compares host model against a linked baseline by ElementId — accurate for version comparison of the same file, where IDs are stable across saves.

↔️

Location Change Detection

Detects moved elements with sub-millimeter precision (0.001 ft tolerance). Supports both point elements (furniture, equipment) and linear elements (walls, pipes, beams).

🎨

Graphic Override Output

Highlight changed elements in any Revit view using color overrides — projection lines, surface fills, and cut graphics. Eight semantic colors available.

🏷️

Shared Parameter Output

Write NEW, DELETED, or MODIFIED values to a named shared parameter on each affected element — enabling schedules, view filters, and Dynamo downstream workflows.

🔒

Pre-Flight Validation

Three-level validation (Error, Warning, Info) checks document state, link status, category selection, view configuration, and parameter availability before execution.

Revit 2024–2026

Full support for Revit 2024 (.NET 4.8) and Revit 2025–2026 (.NET 8.0) from a single shared codebase.

Change Types

🟢

NEW

Element exists in the linked baseline but not in the host — added since the baseline was saved.

🔴

DELETED

Element exists in the host but not in the linked baseline — removed since the baseline was saved.

🟠

MODIFIED

Element exists in both but its location changed beyond the 0.001 ft tolerance — moved since the baseline was saved.

Frequently Asked Questions

RedLine compares the host document against a Revit Link of the same model using ElementId matching. It identifies which elements were added, removed, or moved beyond a sub-millimeter tolerance.
Before coordination meetings: save the current model as a baseline, continue working, then link the baseline and run RedLine to see exactly what changed.
No — RedLine detects positional changes only (location movement beyond 0.001 ft). Parameter value changes, type/family changes, and rotation-only changes are not flagged as MODIFIED.
RedLine supports Revit 2024, 2025, and 2026. All three versions are built from a single shared codebase.
